25 235

The undoubted star of the event just has to be 25235. The locomotive certainly turned many heads when it travelled south of the border to visit Llangollen and the East Lancashire Railway, not least because of the totally outrageous noise it makes!

235 is seen whilst employed on the 'Drive a Loco' turn where visitors were able to 'have a go'

During the event 235 carried this headboard provided by one Mr Buckley, a most fine individual who makes an appearance on the North Norfolk page.

Here is a sound clip of 25235 in action (675kb)

Class 25s make a curious noise when they stop harshly on a dry day as the brake rigging vibrates to some order. This of course is a reminder of those days on the Cambrian when that noise may have been the last thing anyone would hear from the 25 for quite some time! Click here to listen (40kb)

By special arrangement with the civil engineering department permission was granted for the final train of the event to be hauled by three locomotives, here is the spectacular sight of 25235, 26024 and 27001 at the head of the train.
