Classes 82 - 84.

82005 at Birmingham New Street with a Leamington Spa to Blackpool Advertised Day Excursion (ADEX) on 2nd October 1982. The DMU on the left is M50111.

83012 was retained for empty coaching stock movements for which it was restricted to 40mph. It is seen at London Euston on 2nd July 1983. Remarkably the locomotive has survived and is now preserved by the AC Loco Group.

84008 is seen at Crewe Works on 6th June 1981 almost two years after withdrawal. This class was only ten strong and they were all withdrawn from service by the end of 1980. 84001 is preserved at the National Railway Museum in York whilst 84009 continued in departmental service as ADB968021, and was unfortunately scrapped in December 1995. 40123 is behind the 84, this had been withdrawn in July 1980.

Slightly happier days for 84008 as it is led into Crewe by 86004 on 25th October 1978. The pair had spent most of the day running around the local area with the 84 powering on occasions.
