NOTES.

The withdrawal date given relates to the final withdrawal of the locomotive. Some were withdrawn and then reinstated, particularly 45128 which was returned to traffic to work railtours following the withdrawal of 45106; 128 did not, in the event, work any tours.

HGO = Heavy General Overhaul

L/R = Light Repair

Repairs were normally carried out at Derby Locomotive Works including 'Intermediate' repairs for which no dates are to hand. Locomotives dealt with by Crewe works have 'ZC' after the repair date.

'MLC' denotes main line certification allowing the locomotive to operate on the National network.

Members of the 45/1s received modified exhaust silencers which removed just about every trace of exhaust noise (still demonstrated by 45125 to this day). Those without modified silencers display the standard Sulzer 12 roar as demonstrated by at least 45112 and 45135.

Corrections/additions to the above would be most welcome!
