clip of the loco being put through its paces on Derby Locomotive
Works Test House on 29th March 1982. Quite an impressive thing to
see and hear a 25 on full thrash but not moving at all! (140kb).

for the "Roarer" nickname as it leaves Wolverhampton on

1003 and 1005.
The Southern Region's "Thumper" units have a sound
which is quite outrageous and unique. During the rush hour the
Hastings units would run in pairs. They had an English Electric 4
cylinder engine at either end, this recording was made from the
middle of the formation as they leave High Brooms on 9th October
