47 355

47355 has recently returned to traffic with Fragonset Railways. On Saturday 23rd November 2002 the locomotive worked its first passenger train since returning to traffic.

The train was the 07:36 Whitby - Edinburgh charter service, and the 18:45 return. 47709 was also used both for train heat purposes and to save running round at Battersby and Edinburgh.

The train left Whitby powered by 355 (when was the last 47/3 out of Whitby?!) with 709 on the rear which then powered the train to Edinburgh. 355 then took the train to Craigentinny depot to lay over before 709 returned the train to Edinburgh (once a regular haunt of 709 on services to Glasgow etc.) and 47355 then made its own bit of history by being the first 47/3 to work out of Waverley for some considerable time.

47355 is seen on the rear of the 07:36 from Whitby after arrival at Edinburgh.

Another view of 355, note the cast dragon logo on the cabside.

Although a rather hopeless view it was better to at least capture the moment! 47799 (left) arrives at Edinburgh with the "Northern Belle" whilst 47355 prepares to leave for Craigentinny depot.
