Sunday 7th June 1987 saw the newly established (as a result of deregulation of the bus industry) Derby City Transport Ltd holding an open day at their Ascot Drive Depot
Most of the fleet was moved to the nearby (and since demolished and built on) Wilmorton College to make space for the event
