A 27th February 2005 view of the former 7 shop (two bays on the left) and 9 shop (south end). The HST power car test house and heavy machine shop (home of the notoriously unreliable "Asquith") once stood in the foreground. The raised roof on 7 shop 2 bay was in connection with the building of power cars for the ill-fated Advanced Passenger Train (APT) - the view below from 17th February 1983 is at the south end of 2 bay and shows 25305 receiving attention with APT power car 49004 visible on the left in 1 bay.

From the view at the top of this page looking at 9 shop south end. The wall of 8 shop 3 bay can be seen on the edge of the building. Railway lines can just be made out on the right, this is where yard proving tests were carried out. The red coloured sheeting lies where the asbestos removal section was located.

Just under one year later on 15th February 2006 9 shop 1 bay is in the process of demolition.
