Getting There And Back.

The usual plan of action is to travel from Derby to Birmingham and then straight to Bangor returning in a similar fashion. Breakfast is consumed in Birmingham. Here we go then with a few views of the Class 37/4 locomotives, along with one or two others!

A new arrival in the small pool of dedicated locomotives in late 1998 was 37401 'Mary Queen of Scots' which came after overhaul at Toton depot. The locomotive is seen at Bangor on 10th February 1999.

37414 'Cathays C&W Works 1846 - 1993' waits to leave Bae Colwyn on 31st October 1998. This locomotive was transferred away from the 'coast' by early 1999.

The general rule when an 'event' is held is that 37415 is spare at Chester, hence our unofficial name of 'Chester Spare'! However we caught it out on 12th March 1999. Here it is at Crewe with the 1007 Birmingham - Holyhead.

A surprising removal was that of 37419 which was replaced by 37401. '419 is seen at Bae Colwyn on 30th December 1997 with the 10:17 Crewe - Holyhead.
