Blue is the Colour.

Love them or loathe them class 47s have been around for a long time now. The arrival of 1999 sees the class as the last Sulzer powered locomotive on the British system. Here are a few views of locomotives in British Rail blue livery, something else which has left the scene.

47012 is seen at Inverness on 9/10/82 with a lunchtime departure for Aberdeen. Below is 47053 in typical Scottish condition arriving at Kirkcaldy in September 1986.

Here is 47088 "Samson" at Swindon on 7th May 1981. Samson was renumbered to 47653 then to 47808 back to 47653 and finally 47781.

47109 (below) is seen at Reading at 0037 hours on 24/5/81. In the background are a couple of Mark 1 sleepers (2401 and 2407) formed in the "Up Midnight" from Paddington to Penzance.
